Richard is a Barrister and a practicing Advocate &
Solicitor in a boutique Shipping & Insurance law firm in
Singapore with a specific focus on casualty, carriage,
international trade and insurance matters.
Richard began his practice in England in 1980 as a
Barrister at Lincoln's Inn. Shortly after, he obtained a
Master of Laws in Shipping and Insurance and began his
practice in Singapore in 1982. He advises on and handles
various admiralty and shipping, general and marine
insurance, carriage and international trade and
commercial matters. Richard has particular expertise in
maritime casualties such as collisions and general
average, cargo damage and marine insurance.
Before pursuing a career in law, Richard worked in a
leading bank and a notable shipping company and has an
intricate understanding of commercial shipping. In
addition to SCMA arbitration, Richard also handles and
acts as arbitrator in SIAC arbitration and ad hoe
arbitration.
Richard sits on the Complaints and Disciplinary Panel of
the Public Accounts and Disciplinary Panel of the
Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of
Singapore (ACRA) and in the Marine Insurance
Committee of the General Insurance Association of
Singapore (GIA). He is also a member of the SCMA,
Maritime Law Association of Singapore and the
Insurance Law Association of Singapore.
